Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 6, 2026

Apex Dad ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share your information when you use the Apex Dad mobile application ("the App").

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information to provide and improve our services:

Information You Provide

Automatically Collected

2. How We Use Your Information

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the App:

Anthropic Claude (AI Coaching)

When you use the AI Coach, your messages are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate responses. Anthropic processes this data under their usage policy. Your conversations are not used to train AI models.

Subscriptions & Purchases

Apex Dad currently offers no paid subscriptions or in-app purchases, and no purchase data is collected. If subscriptions launch in the future, we plan to use RevenueCat to manage them, and we will update this policy before that happens.

Sentry (Error Tracking)

We use Sentry to detect and fix crashes and errors. Sentry receives crash reports and app performance samples that include device type, operating system version, and app version. Reports are filtered on your device before sending to strip names, email addresses, account identifiers, and message text. We never intentionally send journal content or conversation content to Sentry.

Supabase (Database & Authentication)

Your data is stored in a Supabase-hosted PostgreSQL database. Supabase provides authentication services and data storage with encryption at rest and in transit.

Sign-In Providers (Apple & Google)

If you choose "Sign in with Apple" or "Sign in with Google," that provider authenticates you and shares your name and email address with us at your direction. Beyond signing you in, Apple and Google do not receive your journal entries, coaching conversations, or health data from us.

Infrastructure Providers

We also rely on a small set of infrastructure services: Vercel hosts our server, so data you send to AI features passes through it, encrypted in transit; Expo delivers push notifications, and notification text is generated with family names replaced by relationship words (like "your son"); Upstash stores rate-limit counters keyed to your account ID, with no content; and Cloudflare serves the App's built-in images and audio, with no user content stored there.

Apex Dad does not currently use any third-party analytics services.

4. Data Storage & Security

5. AI Coaching & Your Data

When you use the AI Coach feature, your messages are processed by Anthropic's Claude AI to generate responses. Your coaching conversations are stored in your account so you can access your history. Your conversations are not used to train AI models. You can delete your conversation history at any time by deleting your account.

If a message you send to the coach contains crisis-related language, the App does not send that message to the AI. Instead, it immediately shows crisis resources (such as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). A brief excerpt of that message (up to 200 characters) is stored in your private account so the App has a record that resources were shown. That excerpt never leaves our systems — it is not sent to Anthropic or any other third party — and it is deleted when you delete your account.

6. Apple Health Data

What we collect (when you connect Apple Health)

We read aggregated daily metrics: sleep duration, steps, active energy, resting heart rate, heart rate variability, mindfulness session minutes, and workout counts. We never read individual heartbeats, raw sensor data, location data, or any health category you don't grant permission for.

Where it's stored

Daily aggregates are stored in your encrypted Supabase account, protected by row-level security. Only you and the AI coach (acting on your behalf) can read your row.

What the AI coach sees

The coach reads your compiled notebook — a markdown summary of patterns derived from your data — along with your recent daily numbers, including your check-in scores and the daily health aggregates listed above, so it can respond to how you're actually doing right now. It only ever sees daily aggregates, never raw sensor data.

AI processing

Compiled summaries are sent to Anthropic's Claude API under commercial terms: never used to train models, retained for a maximum of 30 days for abuse monitoring, then automatically deleted by Anthropic.

What we write back to Apple Health

When you complete a meditation in Apex Dad, the start and end time of that session is logged to Apple Health's Mindfulness category (only if you grant write permission). We never write any other data type.

What we don't do

We never sell your health data. We never share it with third parties for marketing or advertising. We never use it for any purpose beyond delivering coaching insights to you.

How to disconnect or delete

Disconnect anytime in Settings → Privacy & Data → Apple Health. Disconnecting stops new data from being read; your historical aggregates are preserved unless you delete your account. Account deletion cascades and removes all health aggregate rows.

7. Your Rights

You have full control over your data:

8. Data Retention

Your data is kept for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all of your data — including journal entries, wellness logs, coaching conversations, habit data, and family information — is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days. Anonymized, aggregated analytics data that cannot be linked back to you may be retained.

9. Children's Privacy

Apex Dad is designed for adults (parents and caregivers). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you add family member names (such as your children's names), this data is stored at your discretion as the parent and is associated with your account only. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at asa@apexdad.app and we will delete it promptly.

10. GDPR & CCPA Compliance

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to access, rectify, port, and erase your personal data, and the right to restrict or object to processing. Our lawful basis for processing is your consent and our legitimate interest in providing the service.

If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell your personal information.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at asa@apexdad.app or use the in-app data management tools in Settings.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by email. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
