Terms of Use
Last updated: August 13, 2026
The short version
Apex Dad is a daily practice for fathers. It’s free right now. What you write in it is yours, and you can export or delete it whenever you want. It is not medical care, therapy, or a crisis service. Treat it like a training log, not a doctor. You need to be an adult to use it.
That summary is here to be useful, not to replace what follows. The numbered terms below are the ones that actually apply.
1. Who this agreement is between
These terms are between you and Apex Dad (“we,” “us”). By creating an account or using the app or the website, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, don’t use the service.
2. What the Service is
“The Service” means the Apex Dad iPhone app, the website at apexdad.app, and the web app you sign into with the same account. It gives you a daily practice: check-ins, breathwork, journaling, workouts, meditation, presence sessions, letters to your children, and an AI coach that draws on what you’ve logged.
It is an early product and it changes often. Features can be added, altered, or removed, and we don’t promise any particular feature will keep existing.
3. You need to be an adult
The Service is built for parents and caregivers, and you must be 18 or older to hold an account. It is not designed for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
You can record details about your family: your children’s names, things they said, moments you want to keep. You are the one deciding to enter that information, and you are responsible for it. Only add what you’re comfortable storing in your own account.
4. Your account
Sign in with a magic link, Google, or Apple. Keep access to your email and sign-in provider secure. Anyone who controls those can reach your account. Accounts are for one person; don’t share yours. Tell us at asa@apexdad.app if you think someone else has gotten in.
5. What you write stays yours
Your journal entries, letters, recordings, check-ins, and coaching conversations belong to you. We don’t claim ownership of them and we don’t sell them.
To actually run the Service, you give us permission to store, process, and display your content back to you (including sending the relevant parts to our AI provider so the coach can answer you). That permission exists to operate the app and nothing else. Your content is not used to train AI models.
You can export everything from Settings, and deleting your account removes it. The Privacy Policy describes exactly what we store, who processes it, and how long it lasts.
6. This is not medical or mental-health care
Apex Dad is a self-improvement and habit tool. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, therapy, or professional counselling, and nothing in it creates a doctor-patient or therapist-client relationship.
The workouts, breathwork, and meditation carry real physical considerations. Breath-holding and high-intensity breathing in particular are not for everyone. Never practise them in water or while driving, and talk to a doctor first if you are pregnant or have a cardiovascular or respiratory condition. Get medical clearance before starting any new exercise, and stop if something hurts.
If you are in crisis, the app is not the right tool. In the US, call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, or call 911 in an emergency. If a message you write contains crisis-related language, the app deliberately does not send it to the AI. It shows you those resources instead.
7. What the AI coach is, and isn't
The coach is generated by an AI model (Anthropic’s Claude). It reads what you’ve logged so it can be specific to you, but it can still be wrong, miss context, or give advice that doesn’t fit your situation.
Treat it as a well-informed second opinion, not an authority. Do not rely on it for medical, psychological, legal, or financial decisions. You are responsible for what you choose to do with what it says.
8. Apple Health
If you connect Apple Health, the app reads daily aggregates (things like sleep, steps, and heart-rate variability) so the coach can respond to how you’re actually doing. It writes back only your completed meditation sessions, and only if you grant permission. You can disconnect at any time in Settings.
9. What it costs
The app is free today. There are no subscriptions and no in-app purchases, and we don’t collect payment information.
A printed edition of your Letters book is planned. If we ever start charging for anything, the price and its terms will be shown to you before you pay, and you’ll never be charged for something you didn’t knowingly buy.
10. Using it decently
Don’t use the Service to:
- break the law or harm someone;
- upload someone else’s private information without their knowledge;
- attack, overload, scrape, or reverse-engineer the app or its servers;
- resell it, or share one account across many people.
11. Availability
We run the Service as carefully as we can, but we don’t guarantee it will always be online, error-free, or that data will never be lost. Keep your own copy of anything you can’t bear to lose. The export tool in Settings exists for that.
12. Ending it
You can stop at any time and delete your account from Settings, which removes your data as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts other people or the Service at risk.
13. Disclaimers and limits
To the fullest extent the law allows, the Service is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of it. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Some places don’t allow those exclusions, in which case they simply don’t apply to you.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product changes. If a change is material, we’ll say so in the app or by email. The date at the top always reflects the current version, and continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept it.
15. Contact
